Secret to Quality Budget Graphics

Hey everyone! Short one today…

I have been trying to upgrade the look of the site for some time now. I want a minimalist feel without the site looking plain. I have been searching various WordPress themes and developer template sites seeking to find the perfect match. Well aware that I need some sort of logo and lacking artistic talent, I did some research into ways to create a logo. I came across the website fiverr – (http://www.fiverr.com) – which is essentially a marketplace of people selling skills/talents for $5! I had previously visited fiverr when it was a lot less mature and I must admit, I am very impressed with the progress.

The site has various categories and an array of different developers/artists/graphic designers advertising their talents. There are some brilliant videos to check out if you have some spare time!

I decided to take a gamble and pay $5 for somebody to design a logo for Savvy Scot.

So what does everyone think?

If you need some advertising / videos / voiceovers / ANYTHINGELSE done – then check out the talent on fiverr! Does anyone have any stories to share on experience with using Fiverr? I would be interested to hear. 🙂 Also on a discussion point: Does anyone have advice for simple, yet configurable WordPress themes?

Laters..

Aside from the extra t, I like the logo! But then again, I’m really not a very visual person, so my opinion should be taken with a (large) grain of salt.

Hey! Well done for noticing 😉 That is why it is not yet the logo of my site. I think something got lost in translation in my order 😉 Hopefully it will be fixed soon

Think it’s good for the price, but perhaps needs to have a bit of a stronger image – have you checked out odesk.com as well? Sounds similar to fiverr but a bit more established. We’ve had some fantastic work done on there for around the same rate!

Thanks very much for the tip on odesk – will check that out! 🙂

Almost NO WordPress themes are easily configurable.

The best one I found is Twenty Eleven, because it’s fairly simple and it’s hard to screw it up. But if you’re anything like me, you will want to tweak things 😐

    Try googling: “Minimalist WordPress Themes”

    You’ll find a ton!
