A survey from Ziffit has found that 30% of UK households sell their things for cash, in spite of the average UK home containing 119 unused books, CDs and DVDs! While this is not a way to make millions, this is definitely an easy way to make some cash while getting rid of your clutter. We all have things we’ve been holding on for too long. Think about it. More stuff is not only taking up space in your house, it is mental clutter, and an overwhelming feeling when you don’t know what to do with it. Don’t even get me started about storage units people rent just to store the boxes of stuff they haven’t touched in years… So let’s get started and sell our unused things!
How it works
Ziffit is a free websites that gives you a valuation on the spot for your books, DVDs, CDs and video games. You simply enter the barcode of your product and click on Get Value to find out what it is worth.
For books, you enter the ISBN which is the International Standard Book Number, and for the other items, their EAN or International Article Number. That is a 13-digit barcode number that you will usually find at the back of the item.
Once you have found how much you can get for your item, you just need to package it, and seal the box. Ziffit offers a free courier collection if your package is over 15kg, otherwise you can drop it off at a local Collect+ store. You then get paid securely via PayPal, bank transfer or cheque.
Another way to get started is to download the free Ziffit app on iTunes or Google Play so you can scan the barcode with your smartphone.
So far Ziffit has sold over 1 million books, DVDs, CDs and games, and earned an 8.8/10 score on Trustpilot out of over 3,700 reviews.
What can I trade?
In order to complete a trade, you need to send a minimum of 10 items or £5 worth. There is no maximum values for a trade. You can pool together books, DVDs, CDs and games.
Games, DVDs and VDs must have a 13-digit EAN in order to get a valuation. They need to be original, and only PC games are accepted. They should be in working condition without heavy scratch, and come with their covers and instructions for games.
Regarding books, they must have an ISBN number, and be free from heavy damage. Pages have to be complete and intact, free from water damage, writing, and include original supplements.
Prices are updated every day.
