Hey guys… a great opportunity to nominate a UK business for the below award…
The running of an SME means you can come up against a myriad of problems day to day; from small technical issues like a card machine not working, to more difficult things like break-ins and criminal damage. With the added strain of the double dip recession that the UK economy is currently suffering, it can be difficult for many small businesses to stay afloat.
However, over the past few years many new businesses – in industries from IT and manufacturing to health and beauty – have emerged to fill in the gaps and continue to boost our economy. At www.motors.co.uk they believe in offering recognition and as such have launched the Motors’ Most Deserving Business campaign on the 9th April. The third competition of the Most Deserving series, Most Deserving Business is designed to give credit and a helping hand to small businesses that strive to achieve more.
Whilst there are hundreds of start-ups and young businesses throughout the UK, Motors are searching for one that will go that extra mile to push the UK back to its glory days, and whose determination to succeed makes them stand out from the crowd. The grand prize for the lucky winning business is a prize fund amounting to over £11,000. This will include a 2008 Ford Transit 260 2.2TDCi with a year’s road fund licence, a year’s MOT, a full tank of fuel and a contribution towards insurance and internal racking and ply-lining. Alongside this the winner’s brand imagery will be produced as a vinyl or transfer for use on the van courtesy of Motors design team, and an encouraging growth prize to the value of £3,000.
Stephen Jury of Motors.co.uk, said: “In this economic climate we want to offer start-up businesses a chance to grow successfully. We understand that there are many passionate and dedicated business owners who would benefit greatly from a new van and some funding to help get the business off of the ground. We want to celebrate our nation’s achievements. Running businesses is particularly challenging right now in the midst of an economic downfall and motoring costs are at an all-time high. By offering this chance to win an award, we hope we can give a business the chance to strive.”
This campaign coincides with the recent launch of the government’s business bank and the announcement that £300m will be invested in the venture. This is the first of several phases, which will see the investment of £1bn in struggling smaller businesses within the UK. The funding and business bank itself will not be operational until 2014, although provisions for business finance until this point is at the forefront of the Business Secretary’s agenda.
Vince Cable, the business secretary, said: “SMEs are continuing to have difficulty accessing finance for their business. This prevents them from investing and growing.” In line with this train of thought Motors.co.uk want to invest in the Most Deserving Business as well as making the day to day running of their business easier.
Over the next three months, in an attempt to find a business worthy of this prize, Most Deserving Business will cast the spotlight over small local businesses looking for one with that extra dose of British gumption. Motors.co.uk are scouring the nation for business owners, with enterprises under two years old, who have had the passion, dedication and entrepreneurship to persist in strengthening and growing their business throughout this tumultuous time.
Nominations are now being accepted from the general public at the Most Deserving website, and the initial phase is expected to close on the 6th May. If you feel your business should have some recognition, or can think of a worthy local enterprise that goes the extra mile with customer service, why not nominate them?
After the initial nominations have been received, a panel of 10 finalists will be announced on the 13th May. This will then be opened up to public vote until the 31st May to determine the three finalists. After the UK has chosen their top three Most Deserving Businesses, a panel of expert judges will then deliberate to determine the winner, which will be announced on the 10th June.
If you have a business in mind or know a special trader that really delivers, take a minute out of your day to nominate them.
