Good evening everyone! It’s time for a personal post… and it has been a while since you have had one of them! In fact, I have pretty much failed in that category over the last few weeks! Ok so I will start by getting my excuses on the table:
- I started a new job at work – This has led to much longer hours while I handover my old role and learn my new role. Combine that with meeting new people and learning about new technology – I am in the office 10 hours a day. Crazy right?!
- Tough Mudder is FAST approaching! Those of you who subscribe to the Insider Newsletter will know that I have been training hard for the half-marathon assault course on the first weekend in June. Now that my running distances have increased substantially, the time it takes to actually run has also increased! Combine an gym session (minimum 1 hour) with a 2 hour commute and a 10 hour day… I haven’t had much time to pour my heart out to y’all!
- Traveling the World – well not quite the world, but I was in Moscow last month and am going to Houston this weekend – new job, new responsibilities. These trips take additional time to plan!
In short, other things have taken priority over the last few weeks. As I have less time to write, I feel less like writing in the free time that I do have. I think I have a second spout of Blogger Burn Out that Jeremy over at Modest Money talks about. On the plus side, I have had as many advertisers as ever contact me on sponsored posts. An increasing number of which are trying to get me to post links to payday loan companies. Despite my clear statement on the contact page, they keep offering me bigger and bigger sums of money. I don’t want to give away exact details, but we are talking hundreds of pounds worth of campaigns. I didn’t start this blog to make money and I stand firmly by my morals that I won’t sell out to scumbag legalized loan sharks. Why would I promote 1000% + APR loans?
What was Moscow Like?
In a word.. Incredible. I got to live in absolute luxury for a week and stayed in the beautiful Lotte hotel. Go ahead and check it out f you have time. Anywhere that charges $20 for a glass of orange juice and $150 for a main course has got to be pretty special. The deciding factor for me was the toilet that wiped your backside for you. Surely you are living in luxury if you don’t have to wipe your own a$$?
I promise to share some more pictures with you all in time. Follow me on Twitter and you can see a few more…
The Future of SavvyScot
Before you have a slight heart attack that your favourite blog is about to close down – fear not. I am definitely still engaged and passionate. Part of me has considered taking on a staff writer to write some of the content, but I have decided against that for now. I will just have to become more disciplined at using my free time to write an archive of posts that can be put live at any time. Statistically speaking, the blog has never been more popular and statistics continue to get better. Although the number of comments have decreased dramatically, surprisingly the visitors continue to increase. The majority of the comments were from friends and fellow bloggers in return for comments that I left them. Unfortunately that was one of the first things to get cut with my lack of time – I still regularly read most of their blogs, but just don’t have the time to comment. I guess that is what people are doing here!
I don’t really need people to comment in order to feel motivated to write. Instead, you can show me that you love me by signing up for the newsletter on the widget to the right —–> I promise to get a new edition out soon and will let you know how the blogger income and resulting investments have been doing!

Wow, you have been busy! 🙂 We’re crazy busy as well, but that’s good in our business. I am still envious you got to go to Moscow. 😉 That is very close to the top of the list on the next places I want to visit list.

Busy is good 🙂 You need to let me know if you guys do book a trip and I can give you some hints and tips! 😉

congrats on the new job! I don’t know how you manage a blog with such a busy schedule. On the plus side, airport lounges are pretty quiet places to write. Interesting invention that wipes you but… no, thanks, I’d rather DIY on that one.
savvyscot says
Many thanks – I promise to reply to your email soon. It deserves a long reply which will come soon! 🙂 Took your advice on Airport Lounges btw 🙂

Congrats on this new job! I hope you’ll like it! And I’m looking forward to hear more about half-marathon: it’s still on my to-do-list so would be great to read some motivating story 😉

Moscow sounds really interesting. I’ve never been to Russia. Glad to hear that everything is going well with the blog. Best thing that’s happened to me this month…winning catering for 20 people for the Cinqo De Mayo party we’re having woot woot.

I understand how the training for a long run eats into your time. When I was training for my first marathon last fall I got up to 40+ miles a week towards the end. Seemed like I was doing nothing but run. It will all be worth it for you though to cross the finish line. Good luck with the run!
Shannon @ The Heavy Purse says
Congrats on the new job! Very exciting! Hmmmm….I’m with Pauline – DIY is the way to go when it comes to wiping your …. you know what! The things people invent and I’m not completely sure who would really need this. I did the LA Marathon a few weeks, so I hear (and feel) your pain.
