Money Saving Apps

By savvyscot

Money Saving Apps. There are plenty of apps available that are explicitly designed to help you save money on a daily basis. Here are just a few money-saving app options available for iPhone users to download and start using today.

If you have a smartphone or a tablet device then you will have probably investigated the app marketplace that it offers, perhaps installing one or two games and a photo-editing program.

However, there are plenty of apps available that are explicitly designed to help you save money on a daily basis.

Here are just a few money-saving app options available for iPhone users to download and start using today.

MyGas

There are many apps which used location-based data to help you find the best price in your local area.

For people who regularly have to put petrol into their vehicle and want to avoid the most expensive service stations, the MyGas app is the best software to choose.

It will pull up a map that indicates where you are and where you can buy petrol nearby, as well as telling you how much it will cost for unleaded and diesel at each outlet.

This means you can reduce the expense of motoring and also locate stations in areas with which you may not be familiar thanks to your iPhone’s GPS.

Skype

Making calls from a mobile phone can be expensive, particularly if you have a pay-monthly contract with limited inclusive minutes.

However, by installing the Skype app you can make calls to other VoIP users without having to pay a penny for the privilege.

If you connect your phone via a Wi-Fi hotspot at home or while out and about, you will not be charged for data usage when calling with Skype.

Kayak

This popular travel app is designed to help you get more value for money when you are booking a trip at home or abroad.

You can book both hotel rooms and flights using the app and because it offers last-minute prices you will be able to make big savings on standard rates.

The app also includes detailed information about various travel interchanges and airports so that you can work out what facilities are on offer before you travel.

The other benefits include a currency converter and even a handy list that you can use to organise your pre-trip packing.

Groupon

You may well be aware of the Groupon phenomenon, which is essentially a service which lets you harness the power of group buying by getting together with other online customers and driving down prices.

The Groupon app will allow you to stay up to date with the latest offers, both in your local area and nationally.

You can save large amounts of money using the offers and also discover some local businesses which you may not previously have been aware of.

There are plenty of other money-saving apps to make use of if you are an iPhone user, many of which are actually free to download and use.

You can experiment with the apps mentioned above or search for others to help you with money management.

Wowsa! Have you seriously never done a Groupon?!? So long as you watch the small print, they are often a great deal!

Hmm I’m a bit surprised that I haven’t tried any of these apps. My wife catches the Groupons in her email so I don’t really need that, but one app you listed that I would consider is MyGas. I haven’t ever really tried to save money on gas but perhaps I should.

MyGas is a great one… It makes a big difference saving a couple of pence / cense a litre. 🙂

MyGas is great and skype when you have WiFi is a big saver.

Not really a “money saving” app but Mint is pretty great at letting you know if you are in danger of overdraft and the subsequent $40 charge!

Kayak seems a really interesting application to use.
I actually don’t have it in my phone.

Yes! It has some great additional currency / informational features. Well worth checking out. There is a ‘Lite’ version in additon to the Pro!

I use a similar app called gas buddy. It is actually really helpful b/c I can check and see which gas station on my way home has the cheapest gas. i won’t go too far out of my way b/c that defeats the purpose but if it’s convenient and cheaper, I’ll go for it.

Hey Harry! I have heard of Gas Buddy too! I always have a look before I leave work and work out if it justifies going a mile or two out my way or not. In general, I know the 3 stations that are on my way home and I will look for the cheapest of the 3. If they are all the same, I will go for the one with the best rewards program! 🙂

Don’t forget a solid in-store and online coupon app. I know a company that has a really good one. Yes, my company! http://www.rather-be-shopping.com/mobile_coupons

Viber is ace… I actually prefer Skype though as more people use it. Viber is definitely a good shout if you want to communicate between a group of people in different countries who all have it installed… nice addition cheers Gemma! 🙂
