Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is an evolving field of study and training which incorporates a set of models that seek to explain human behaviour and communication, and a set of techniques designed to help people change the way they think and act.
If you think that by going on an NLP training course you’ll somehow be able to get rich quick, think again. But that’s not to say NLP can’t help improve your relationship with money and break down barriers that may have been undermining your pursuit of wealth.
If you want to learn more about NLP and ultimately make more money, it’s important to think about your goal before you embark on any training. Your goal should be a positive rather than a negative; i.e. “I want to get a better job” rather than “I want to stop worrying about my bills.” Your goal should also be something you are able to take full responsibility for, and not something that requires other people to make changes in order for it to happen.
Whilst there are no guarantees about what you might achieve, there are a few key ways in which NLP can help better prepare you for prosperity.
Identifying and Replacing Limiting Beliefs
NLP is focused on how our fundamental beliefs affect our thoughts and ultimately our actions. NLP can help you identify limiting beliefs such as “money is the root of all evil” or “I’ll never get a better job” and replace these with more positive maxims that will improve your state of mind and help you chart a path to financial success.
Modelling Success
Modelling involves identifying a pattern of behaviour you want to emulate, analysing the characteristics of that model, and then working on acquiring them. If you want to make money, you can observe successful people, deduce their defining characteristics, and begin developing these aspects of yourself.
Being More Persuasive
Being able to inspire and persuade people is key to financial success. Whether you’re trying to close a sale, get your employees motivated, or build strong relationships with suppliers, effective use of language and non-verbal communication is crucial. NLP, drawing on hypnosis, can help you master the fundamental techniques of persuasion and influence.
Have you got any experience of NLP? Do you think it can help you make more money?
I have to admit this is the first time I’ve heard about NLP. It sounds interesting, but like you say there’s no real good way out there to become rich quick.

I didn’t realise how many people were unaware of what NLP is… We took a short course at school about 10 years ago! I think a follow-up post is in order!
Neuro-linguistic programming is the route to the routes and not a path to better financial betterment. What one needs is a solid guttural instinct that he/she will save no matter what and invest as well.
Now in today’s global era where emotions rule over perceptions it’s easier said than done however we should also at the same time not forget that we live in a Social era and there are leading saving/insurance aggregator sites which will make the user streamline on his saving plans along with the propositions the provider can offer which he can then think over rationally and select the best ones by applying the NLP technique.
Because all said and done instigation for the saving begins from within and the drive is available socially in today’s context.
Very Well Said Marco!!!
You are spot-on when you say emotions rule over perception. Unfortunately this is an advertiser’s strongest point of attack! And with smartphones, tv screens everywhere, internet etc. it is easier than ever to stream media that pulls on your heart strings!
Sounds very interesting! I would just like to mention to the owner of that website to make it more clear what NLP is and why people should take the course. I went there and it was kind of difficult to quickly get an overview of what it was about.

Thanks for the feedback Veronica.. perhaps I will follow up with a second post!
Can’t say that I’ve heard of it before and am still not clear what it’s all about. I’m guessing a behavioural type course to help individuals change the way they think and perceive things?

Exactly! Think I need to follow up on this one! 🙂 There are a few good youtube videos that help explain – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vlcsFJyEXQ
I took an NLP class in the UK the teacher was amazing. I learnt a lot about how to communicate better with people, which can be used for business, but also for day to day relationships.

I also learned a lot from my class in communicating with different types of people! It is great to better understand how the mind works! 🙂
Like the others, NLP sounds very interesting, but I don’t complete understand what it is. Is is similar to an emotional profile and how that profile can be used to understand yourself and others? I completed something similar to that as a sales training program.

Hey JW – it is likely that your sales program may have been based upon some of the NLP techniques! Check out this youtube video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vlcsFJyEXQ
Sounds like a Scientific version of Think and Grow Rich!

🙂 That would be nice.. Right?
This is really interesting. I’ve always been a huge believer in the power of positive thinking. I also believe it really important when faced with an obstacle to use questions instead of statement. “How can I finish this before the end of the day?” instead of “I’m never going to get this done before the end of the day.

Derek… Abso-freaking-lutely!! Attitude differentiates like nothing else. Re-approaching the whole way of thinking can make such a huge difference on overall happiness!
Interesting…I’ve never heard of anything like this and I highly doubt that it would help anybody get rich quick.

Probably not quickly… but the foundations are fantastic for dealing with just about any business situation and forming great relationships
If you can believe it I’m currently editing a video about a guy invented something exactly like that. Small world. 🙂 Seemed to work for him. I know a couple athletes who have used it for sports performance too. Must have helped…they have won three gold medals.

I’ve done some NLP training in my early years (while working as a financial products salesman). Definitely helps with direct contact, persuasion and sales results. Makes you more confident, too. However I don’t think that it can directly help someone make more money, unless that person is planning a career as a NLP trainer or a salesman.
I think that the main benefit out of NLP is that it changes your attitude in general, also towards finance, I guess.
