One of today’s headlines on the BBC is that a guy has been refused entry to the USA for stating on twitter he was ready to ‘destroy’ the place.
While many people think that this is a bit extreme, it’s certainly a wake up call to us all that social media / the Internet is being monitored!!
The short version of the story is that a guy posted on twitter that he had some free time to meet up with friends before leaving on his holiday to ‘destroy’ the US. He the boarded his flight and was sent straight home by immigration on arrival! While I find it extremely difficult to believe that anyone took the meaning f this status literally, it sparks the question
‘What else are the authorities watching?’
How many people actually read privacy policies when they rapidly sign up to a new website/service? Is it a given that you check all the boxes, press ok and submit, in order to get access as quickly as possible? Would you physically sign a contract with such haste?
Or, do you follow the status quo….
