Pets have been a frequent topic of conversation in our household; Admiring the Rabbits at the pet store, filling our pond with fish and borrowing the in-laws dog for the weekend. I always had pets growing up – dogs, guinea pigs, rabbit, cats and a pygmy hedgehog, yet since moving out and getting married we hadn’t properly thought of getting one…. That was until we decided to check out a new litter of CocaPoos yesterday (Cocker Spaniel x Poodle).
I don’t know why I didn’t think it through better, but any human being with half a heart would fall in love with the little darlings.
Meet our new family member the CocaPoo . This little cutie will be joining us in around 3 weeks time. This just about gives us enough time to put a training plan in place and ‘puppy-proof’ the house! I also feel it’s time to do some reading on best practices for training!
How Much Will She Cost?
This is a personal finance blog after all and we are here to talk about money. Although not a pedigree breed, Cocapoos are expensive… typically around £700 (>$1000). We are getting a slight discount through a friend, but she will cost us around £650.
How much will she cost to keep?…. Good question – I don’t know yet! I do know that she will be spoiled rotten and will likely get everything that any dog could want for. My aim is to ensure that we train her correctly so that she doesn’t cost us money through chewing things!
A LOOOONNNG Three Weeks Ahead
It’s going to be a looong three weeks ahead. I am already so excited to get her and start playing. We are going to sort out our conservatory this weekend to convert it into a new doggy home where she can live when we are out the house at work during the day. That way, we can lock the house and leave the conservatory door open so that she can live between there and the garden throughout the day.
What to Call Her?
Here is where you come in… Can you think of a good name? So far we are thinking Leah…. Got any other suggestions?
she is adorable! congrats on the new addition. I suck with names, my chickens are called Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner so I wouldn’t dare suggest a name.
Beautiful dog! I named my Aussie shepherd Monkey, so I might not be the best to ask either.
So cute! congrats on the new addition. How about Mocha?
Awwww! What a doll! And kudos to you guys for being responsible and puppy-proofing, researching training, etc. Puppies are a lot of work, but with consistent training you’ll be rewarded with an amazing dog. My family has two cockapoos…Ginger & Riley! I like Leah, but the first thing I thought when I saw the pic was “Luna”!!
