You’ve probably heard the saying before: “There’s an app for that!” There are even apps designed to help you save money. We’ve weeded through a number of them in order to bring you these top five.
Zeek
Zeek.me is a relatively new app, but an excellent one nevertheless. This one saves you money on shopping, dining, and other essential (and not so essential) goods and services by connecting you with people who have unused gift cards, vouchers, and store credit to sell. Often, you’ll find these goodies are available at a serious markdown, so you get the full value of the voucher or gift card while paying far less than you would if you spent actual cash at a retail establishment. If you’ve got unused gift cards or vouchers, you can use the app to trade them in for cash. Zeek offers free signup, plus the app is smooth and easy to use. There were more than 70 stores to shop in when we last looked, and the company is expanding, so more are likely to pop up in the future. Note that you never have to interact with anyone to buy or sell vouchers – Zeek handles all the transactions, which are just like those you’d experience in another online store.
Mint
You know how important it is to create a budget and stick to it – in fact, if you do this one thing, you’re likely to save quite a bundle each year. Instead of trying to scratch your budget out on a piece of paper, head to Mint.com, where you can create a budget and stick to it, all from the comfort of your favorite device. Mint also helps you find savings on things you need, from investments and credit cards to basics like auto insurance. Use it to get organized and you’ll find it’s far easier to make the most of your money.
Ibotta
With Ibotta, you can submit receipts and link loyalty accounts, then unlock rebates each time you go shopping. All you have to do is scan the barcodes on the products you’ve purchased, and then use the app to submit a photo of your receipt. Ibotta supports more than 210 stores at this time and as the app is growing in popularity, more might be added at a later date. Favorites like Walmart, Kroger, and Publix are just a few examples. You’ve got to spend money on everyday essentials, and you might as well save while you’re at it! The app is user-friendly, and you can cash out once you reach $20 in savings.
Walmart Savings Catcher
If you like to shop at Walmart, then you need the Savings Catcher. This app lets Walmart make good on its promise to deliver low prices. After you install the app, you can scan your Walmart receipt barcode, after which Walmart will compare prices with those advertised by top competitors. If they find a lower price on anything you’ve purchased, they give you the difference. Savings Catcher rewards are awarded in the form of Walmart Savings Catcher Reward Dollars, which you can redeem for an e-gift card, or add to your Bluebird or American Express card. You can use the Walmart Savings Catcher app to submit up to 7 receipts per week.
Krazy Coupon Lady
Love coupons but hate clipping, keeping them organized, and remembering to present them at the register? The Krazy Coupon Lady app makes the process hassle-free, so you can save big money on all the essentials you need for your family. The app provides deals from hundreds of restaurants, and more, all designed to help you make your money go further. Like the other money-saving apps we’ve profiled here, Krazy Coupon Lady is fun and easy to use.
