The news makes me sad today. People have lost their lives and the east coast of North America is in chaos. In reality, this actually happens all the time around the world – often to a much worse degree – but the media don’t report it in the same way. The positive is that it has served as a huge reminder of what devastation really is.

The happiest people don’t have the best of everything – they just make the best of everything. – My favourite!
That’s my favorite too!
Great Minds
Sweet post!
The east coast is a mess and I bet the news channels are only showing half the story. Apparently New Jersey was hit the worst with train tracks and vehicles literally washed away.
I love the Mark Twain quote. He was a wise fellow.
Nice Choice Kim!
They don’t make em like that anymore
I always have to remind myself of quotes like the ship one….so that’s my favorite. Great post! I needed this one today, dude. Either quotes or a beer….maybe both.
Glad it cheered you up! I reckon reading the quotes while chugging down a beer works well?
These are some great quotes. I especially like “Do not give up, the beginning is always the hardest”
Thanks DC
Great time for these quotes! Definitely like E….the beginning of anything meaningful is hard. Just for me, it took a while to even start my site, then now marketing it is hard..but its worth it.
Cheers!
Hey Joe… Good example. I think the middle is hard too with sites.. 6 months in you get that dip in momentum and it is often where a lot of new bloggers fail!
I like the ship one too. I hope that storm goes away soon.
Same – I will reply to your email soon.
This is great! Love it!
Cheers Holly
Great quotes mate. The quote by Mark twain is one of my favorites of all time.
Great minds… I actually recently saw that quote written on a wooden block – intended for hanging in your house. Definitely going to revisit that!
Needed these SO BAD today!! Thank you!
Hey Rika! Glad you like them. Your blog is doing very well – keep up the writing. When are you moving to self-hosted?
I actually pinned a couple of those. My favourite is The happiest people don’t have the best of everything – they just make the best of everything. Life can throw us curve balls when we least expect just like what’s happened with Hurricane Sandy and all those that have lost their lives, the damage and then some. YOLO.. you only live once so no matter what we have, how much we have, we make the best of it… we don’t take this precious life for granted. Cheers mate. Mr.CBB
MR CBB! You chose the same as me! I completely agree with the mantra YOLO! Hence why I am the first to advocate to NOT save all your money and buy things if they truly make you happy!
All great. I like Photo D, talking about how people not having the best of everything, but making the best of it, are the happiest. Good stuff.
I also liked the first one, except for the spend all your cash part:)
Anyway, positive motivational quotes are good to help us keep perspective during some crazy times such as this.
Yeh the spend all your cash thing kind of goes against what SavvyScot is trying to preach about! I liked all the other phrases too much to leave it out though
I would like to add, ‘Just keep swimming’
Hey Jamie.. quite relevant given the storm
It’s got me through some tough times!
It’s a bit sombre, but I love this one from Mill: “I have learned to seek my happiness by limiting my desires, rather than in attempting to satisfy them.”
Maybe a little, but it’s a good one regardless! Thanks for sharing
I wish I could be profound enough to come up with one of these
I’m liking Mark Twains the best, I think I need to print it out and put it next to my monitor at work.
That’s a good idea. I have a virtual post-it-note on my desktop at work with quotes which works well too
To be honest, I’m not a big fan of motivational quotes. But I guess when you’re really down and feel like the world has something against you, a good quote can’t hurt to cheer you up.
Aww that’s a shame Veronica. I’ve never heard of anyone who doesn’t like them until now… Do pictures do it for you?
I like B, C, and D! Thanks for the pick-me-up; the disasters that happen around the world are always tragic, but it often helps put things in perspective for me.
Thanks for linking up to the giveaway!
Glad it helped dude! Pleasure… let’s hope I win
I’m just glad it wasn’t worse, but it’s going to be tough to recover. Thanks for giving everyone some positive words!
Glad you like them Hogga… Let’s hope everyone makes a speedy recovery and gets some positives out of the experience!
